|
-
The Janus Community is the worldwide collection of people and organizations aligning to the “peace without victory” maxim. *
-
The Janus Community’s operating principles are guided by human, universal, decentralized and indirect approaches. **
-
The Janus Community will employ democracy, research, available technical and human resources, and popular cultural and generational talent in all its operations to meet its mission.
-
The Janus Community will observe the desires of individuals to express their opinions on issues in their community and of international concern openly and, if desired, anonymously.
-
The Janus Community will observe the respective laws of all sovereign nations.
-
The Janus Community does not discriminate with regard to any sovereign nation or individual on grounds of race, religion, politics, or gender.
-
All activities conducted in the name of the Janus Community must be in compliance with the Janus Project Charter.
* US President Woodrow Wilson asserted at the end of the First World War that the concept of a "peace without victory" must be the premise and the sole political condition under which any desire for and successful work toward international security and economic prosperity may ever be achieved.
** An audit on the effectiveness of the United Nations found that “the search for peace and security through institutions, and through sectoral, centralized or direct (military) means, were often counter-productive to its long term objectives.”The report recommended “these approaches be inverted representing an intellectual transformation of humanity.” (UNDoc: A/40/998)
